The natural activities that are perceived by the Exchange as aspects of corporate social responsibility are those activities that are associated with promoting transparency in public administration processes and with providing support for an anti-corruption environment. A fully functional Exchange, by its very nature, creates such an environment by organising markets that support equality of treatment of all the trading entities, including the provision of full information to the market, including the market pricing, and by the publication of price-quotation sheets. All the processes of the Exchange are implemented not only in accordance with the legal regulations, but also with ethical rules and principles. Such an environment has proved to be beneficial not only for the private sector but also for the trading participants from amongst the public contracting authorities. This is evidenced, inter alia, not only by the quantification of their accumulated savings (CZK 2.5 billion), but also, and particularly, by the half a billion Czech crowns that have been saved on administrative and transaction costs over the last five years of the operation of the CMKB’s Energy Market.
The Exchange also promotes transparency in public administration processes both in its own educational activities and by lecturing at professional conferences, congresses and workshops. The transparent environment of the Commodity Exchange and of its processes and mechanisms are also evidenced during meetings with the Regional Authorities, the Municipalities, the Micro-regions and with the Central Government Authorities.
As an organiser of public commodity markets, the Commodity Exchange standardises and accelerates the trading processes, which also entails a certain degree of “retreat” from trade relations and reduces the incidence of personal interactions. Significantly contributing to this are both the actual principle of anonymised exchange trading and also its ongoing computerisation. The CMKB, in pursuit of a certain level of “compensation” therefore places emphasis on supporting specific individuals and also their individuality. The Exchange therefore specifically targets its support towards the sphere of education and the development of the creativity and the skills of those who are at the initiatory stage of their socially active life.
Traditionally, the Exchange has also been directing its support towards reputable foundations that are specifically focused on the inclusion in the wider society of children and adults with disabilities. The exchange also supports activities of a similar kind at the regional level, the beneficiaries of which are the schools, charitable organisations and civic associations located in Kladno and in the surrounding region.
A complete list also includes supporting the development of viticulture in Bohemia and in Moravia and also assisting with the development of new art trends and of the creativity of young Czech artists.
